about the watch
During World War II, Rolex introduced the Air-King, the only survivor of the original "Air Series" watches still in production. Launched in 1945 alongside the Air-Lion, Air-Giant, and Air-Tiger, the Air-King was dedicated to honoring the RAF pilots of the Battle of Britain. Like many other Rolex models, the Air-King was tailored for a specific audience: pilots. Over time, it has been embraced by aviators, with companies like Pan Am gifting them to retired pilots. Its iconic design has made it a prized possession for collectors, and its rich history has elevated this model to legendary status.
This particular timepiece, a reference 116900, features the superb black dial with green writings that has become synonymous with the Air King. The hour markers and hands are filled with chromalight. The case and Oyster bracelet are made of steel. The watch has never been worn since it left the boutique in October 2020. It therefore shows no signs of wear.
The Air-King is an excellent alternative to Rolex's most popular models, and perfectly suited to someone looking for a more discreet timepiece without neglecting the object's historical dimension.
This particular model showcases a striking green dial adorned with stick hour markers, adding a vibrant touch of color to this timeless classic. The brushed Oyster bracelet enhances its sporty appeal, making it a versatile watch for any occasion. This watch is in impeccable condition, making it a perfect companion for the summer season.
The watch is new, so both the bracelet and case are in immaculate condition.
The watch is sold with its full original set, including the box and warranty card.
The movement is a caliber 3131, which runs perfectly well.
