Adonis Modern Watches is a destination for discerning collectors and watch enthusiasts alike. We specialize in curating a collection of pre-owned luxury watches that are both fashionable and timeless, offering an unparalleled selection of high-end timepieces. The company was founded when Maximiliaan, Tim's cousin, aimed to start his own reselling watch business. Alex and Tim, already owners of Veritas Vintage Watches, were thinking of expanding their offering to modern timepieces, and in a like minded decision, Maximiliaan, Alex and Tim joined forces to create Adonis Modern Watches. We strive to provide our customers with interesting, complex and attractive watches, be it mechanically, historically or aesthetically. This is without surprise why the company was named Adonis, after the Greek god of beauty and desire.

Alex
I am Alex, an architecture graduate from EPFL and a passionate watch enthusiast from a young age. I have always been intrigued by the complexity of mechanical and technical things, and watches, combining a variety of designs and the way they show such an essential thing as time, quickly became one of my biggest passion. My first piece, a vintage Longines, was a gift from my father and sparked a lifelong interest in watches. For me, watches are not just accessories but complex mechanical and historically important objects. With my background in architecture, I try to bring a unique perspective and appreciation for the design, precision and craftsmanship that goes into each timepiece. My passion for watches is evident in my attention to detail and dedication to understanding the intricacies of these mechanical marvels.
Tim
I am Tim, a graduate from EHL where I studied hospitality management. From a young age, I have always had a fondness for watches. However, it wasn't until I started having regular conversations with Alex about watches that my passion for them truly flourished. I believe watches to be the epitome of jewellery, seamlessly blending aesthetics with intricate mechanics. Having always been drawn to art, I was fascinated by the idea that a watch is the materialisation and ultimate expression of a designer's artistic brilliance. But most importantly, I have found in watches a way to connect and bond with people. It helped me grow my relationship with Alex and also brought me closer to my cousin Maximiliaan, as watches became a point of common interest that transcended the physical distance, him living in the Netherlands and me in Switzerland.
Everyday I try to leverage my experience in hospitality and management to guarantee customer satisfaction, while also ensuring the longevity of the company's operations, for Veritas and Adonis to remain your go-to watch dealers.
Maximiliaan
I am Maximiliaan, a graduate from hogeschool Utrecht (HU), where I studied technical business. My passion began at the age of 16 when my father introduced me to the world of watches. We spent our weekends visiting watch stores, attending fairs, and learning about different brands and models. At 20 years old, I started talking more regularly with my cousin Tim about watches, and while he lived in Amsterdam we attended our first fair together (which we were not invited to, but we learned that a nice smile goes a long way). After completing my bachelor's degree, I further pursued my passion by entering the watch industry, fortunate enough to have the support of Tim and his business partner Alex, with experience in the vintage watch world. As we realized that the three of us worked well together, we decided to join forces and start Adonis Modern Watches. For me, watches are not just a way to tell time, they are a representation of art, craftsmanship, history and tradition. I feel blessed to be able to share my passion for watches with others through Adonis and look forward to continuing to learn and grow in the industry.
